Biografie: David Edwards![]() I started fishing at the age of 5 with the first memories of a fly caught brown trout from a stream in North Wales near the site of my great-grandfather's smithy. I took a break from fishing but came back to it to resume my passion for pike. I was introduced to pike fly fishing and through tying my own flies I developed Bug-Bond a UV light cured acrylic resin which cures fast and tack free… Please write about your favourite fly fishing pattern. Any fly that entices a pike to make that strike or lunge at the fly... I have two favourites a deceiver style fly and deer hair spun head Umpqua pike fly. However, I’m now developing a taste for tying on tubes! What other patterns and styles of flyfishing do you enjoy most? In additition to pike flyfishing I'll also pack a couple of "bread flies" for a little bit of carp stalking... interesting to catch carp on the fly in front of the bait boys! Is there a style of flytying you enjoy more than others? Since developing Bug-Bond my attention has turned itself to saltwater patterns and as I live 5 minutes from the sea I'm desperately tying for summer forays for bass etc. What is your most memorable flyfishing moment? The thing that injected the passion into my blood stream... watching my father flyfish on a bend of the River Strule near my grand parents' home in Omagh, Co Tyrone in Northern Ireland. What is your most favoured piece of flyfishing equipment? My father's Milwards Flyrover split cane rod... fished but in mint condition and the rod I caught my first rainbow on... magic! What is your most favoured piece of flytying equipment? Mmmm... wouldn't be without Bug-Bond or the UV curing light to go with it! What type of flyfishing rod and reel do you use? I have two set ups that I’m never without, there is my “European” outfit a Harrison Advanced Rods 9ft 9/10 weight... custom built by my friend Steve Harrison in his factory in Liverpool. As for the reel it has to be the Danielsson 8/11 LW. My “Stateside” outfit is a Loomis Crosscurrent GLX 9ft 9 weight and that is teamed with an Abel Super 10… all bases covered! What type of flytying will you be tying at the show and are there any specific tying techniques you will be demonstrating at the show? I will be demonstrating Bug-Bond and the benefits of using a solvent free light cured resin that cures quickly, is optically perfect, doesn’t yellow and remains flexible… oh and the really important bit it cures TACK FREE… Bug-Bond is the most advanced material that has been specifically developed for flytying. I will tie sand eels and a few other salty patterns to demonstrate Bug-Bond and show you that you can throw away epoxy resin and varnish! Where can we find out more about Bug-Bond? I have a website www.bug-bond.moonfruit.com but please do visit me at the show and say hello… David Edwards Edwards Bonding Solutions +44789 9703096
