Biografie: Martin Westbeek Martin Westbeek, born in Amsterdam in 1957, is a marketing communication lecturer at a 
university for professional education. From 9 to 5 he is a keen fly
fisherman and fly tier: he prefers fishing for (sea) trout and
grayling; likes to tie flies that require some techniques, mainly
classics using natural materials.Martin started tying in the eighties, he won some prizes at tying competitions, and after that started tying at festivals and doing demos. Meanwhile he has become a regular tier at festivals in England, Germany, Denmark and Holland. He also tied several times in the USA, Belgium, Italy and Sweden, and does demos at clubs and events in Holland. Flies of his were published in 'Tying Emergers' by Leeson/Schollmeyer and 'Modern Midges' by Rick Takahashi. Martin is a member of the Whiting and Daiichi pro teams, and regularly publishes step-by-step patterns, for instance at www.globalflyfisher.com. Motto for the day: make every thread wrap count.
